Auburn Al. - One night after losing 2-1 to Wayne County, Tennesseee, Lee County bounced back on Saturday night to beat the Tennessee state champions by the same 2-1 score to win the 50th Dixie Youth Baseball Majors World Series title.
Chase Patrick went the distance for Lee County who scored two runs in the first inning. It is the third DYB Majors World Series title for Lee County who returned to Leesburg Sunday afternoon with trophy and championship banner in hand.
Manager Todd Griffin said the championship was a total team effort.
Griffin "We don't have one stud on this team that can just go mow everybody down with 78-80 mile an hour fastballs. We just have a group of kids, a staff of pitchers that are capable of hitting spots and shutting teams down."
Lee County opened the DYB World Series with a 10-3 win over Arkansas and a 10-1 win over Louisiana.
The Georgia state champs beat Florida 3-1 on Thursday and then beat South Carolina 5-2 on Friday afternoon.
