Albany-- A prominent Grady County farmer is out of jail after being charged with witness tampering. Don Harrell was released on a $100,000 unsecured bond Monday afternoon after a detention hearing in federal court.
Prosecutors say Harrell tried to intimidate witnesses in an arson case against his son Marty Harrell. Marty Harrell is charged with setting fire to the Ramada Inn Limited in Donalsonville in 2002.
During this investigation, prosecutors say they discovered that Marty Harrell murdered Bobby Eugene Powell in August 2000.
They're preparing to seek an indictment in that case.
