Good neighbor helps catch burglary suspects

August 8, 2005

Albany -- Albany Police say an East Albany good citizen helped them catch two burglars breaking into a neighbor's house.

Friday just before noon a neighbor called Police to report burglars breaking into a home in the 100 block of North West Road. Based on the neighbor's description, Officers arrested 22 year old John White and 20 year old Robert Dunbar. Investigators say the two had a stereo system, compact disks, school supplies, and two pairs of boots stolen from the home with them when they were arrested.

Officers say help like this protecting neighborhoods fights crime. Albany Police Lt. Tracey Barnes said "It's the foundation of what a neighborhood watch is all about. You watch out for your neighbor, they watch out for you. And it makes the criminals uncomfortable in our neighborhoods."

Investigators say the two broke into the home by kicking in the back door. Home owner Catherine Cole was not there during the break in.
