Albany- The Nursing Ministry at Bealuah Baptist Church held their first ever blood drive Saturday, with life giving results. Forty eight people made appointments, but more than a hundred turned out to donate.

The American Red Cross was encouraged by Saturday's donations because their supply is in desperate need.

"It's summer time, you know we're coming off of summer time, people have been on vacations and doing other things and just not donating because they have other things filling their calendars," said Cecelia Johnson, ARC Team supervisor.

The American Red Cross needs "O" and "B" donors especially, but all donors are welcome. You can call 1-800-Give-Life to find an upcoming blood drive near you.
