Agents take 8 pounds pot off streets

Albany- Four drug suspects and eight pounds of marijuana are off the streets after Albany-Dougherty Drug officers made busts this week.

Wednesday night, police arrested Michael Edwards near Slappey Boulevard for selling a pound of pot to William Beal, who they caught near Merry Acres Motel.

Edwards had almost 6 pounds of marijuana and more than $2,000 in cash. Tuesday night, they arrested Derrick Moorer and Sheri Buchanon on West Broad Avenue for having two pounds of marijuana, more than $87,000 and a gun.

"So that's quite a bit of dope to take off the streets in both places," said Andy Exum, interim ADDU Commander. "These are actually probably mid-level dealers."

Edwards made bond Thursday morning. The other three remain in the Dougherty County jail.

    About 8:00 Friday morning, a man went into the Lee County Walmart, walked around the store, and exposed himself to a woman, according to Lee County sheriff's officials.

    Lee County Fire Chief David Forrester said there were two people in the home, and they saw one person in the front yard.  Two people in the home were transported to Phoebe Putney.
