Agents take 8 pounds pot off streets

August 4, 2005

Albany- Four drug suspects and eight pounds of marijuana are off the streets after Albany-Dougherty Drug officers made busts this week.

Wednesday night, police arrested Michael Edwards near Slappey Boulevard for selling a pound of pot to William Beal, who they caught near Merry Acres Motel.

Edwards had almost 6 pounds of marijuana and more than $2,000 in cash. Tuesday night, they arrested Derrick Moorer and Sheri Buchanon on West Broad Avenue for having two pounds of marijuana, more than $87,000 and a gun.

"So that's quite a bit of dope to take off the streets in both places," said Andy Exum, interim ADDU Commander. "These are actually probably mid-level dealers."

Edwards made bond Thursday morning. The other three remain in the Dougherty County jail.
