Albany - Incoming Darton College golfer Troy Bartkowicz showed during the Albany Junior Open that the Cavaliers will be a national title contender for the next two years.
Bartkowicz birdied the 18th hole and 15-year old Deerfield-Windsor sophomore T.J. Mitchell made a bogey to force a playoff.
The two players shot opposite scores from Monday's first round with Bartkowicz shooting a 68 on Tuesday and Mitchell posted a 71..
Mitchell had to use his 3-iron on the greens after he bent his putter on the back nine.
The playoff took place on the first hole of the Stonebridge Country Club course where Bartkowicz two-putted on the par five hole for a birdie and Mitchell made a par.
Two other incoming Darton golfers, Bill Jones and Hap Kaufold finished third and fourth.A
Collin Ho won the 13-14 age division, John Fordham takes the first place trophy in the 12-13 group and Tyler Dorminey wins the 9-11 age division.
