No gay billboards in S. Georgia

August 1, 2005

Albany - There is a new ad campaign in Georgia that illustrates who makes up Georgia's gay community, but you won't see them in South Georgia. That's because Lamar Outdoor advertising is declining business by Georgia Equality.

Billboards went up a couple of weeks ago in North Georgia at first all you saw was a picture, and words like "we are your neighbors." Now another line has been added to the billboards explaining that they are also gay.

James Locke, general manager of the South Georgia area for Lamar Advertising said the billboards don't fit community standards.
