Thomasville-- One of Thomasville's few grocery stores is one step closer to being shut down.

The Winn-Dixie corporation has auctioned 102 of the stores it wants to close because of bankruptcy. But its Thomasville branch is not one of them. The stores that were auctioned will continue operating as grocery stores, some under other company's names. However, unless someone buys the Thomasville store before August first, Winn-Dixie will auction or sell its lease. That means it can be used as any type of retail store.

Winn-Dixie plans on closing 326 stores. About 70 people work at the Thomasville branch.
