SCA names basketball coach

Albany - High School football teams hit the practice field for the first time this week.

But it won't be long before the basketball season begins.

And when it does, Sherwood Christian finally knows who will be there head coach.

Sherwood Christian Academy has hired Todd Mallory as the Eagles new boys basketball coach.

Mallory took the job back in June but the school wanted to wait until he could move to Albany this week to announce his hiring.

Mallory has been coaching at Calvary Christian Crespatown, Maryland for the last eight years during which he lead the team to the northeast championship.

Mallory, who will also work as an assistant football coach, replaces Jeremy Mears who moved back to Alabama for a high school coaching job.

Sherwood Christian also announcing the hiring of assistant football coach Mark Puckett.

Puckett will also serve as the Eagles head wrestling coach as Sherwood Christian will field their first ever wrestling team this school year.
