Albany -- It's a big relief that MCLB Albany didn't appear on a revised closure list.

The Southwest Georgia Alliance for Progress has been monitoring this latest round of reviews of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission. The Albany Marine Base sailed through the review safely.

Southwest Georgia Alliance for Progress Secretary Tim Martin said "We got past this critical milestone. There are some additional things that will happen even before the September 8th date when the BRAC commission sends their list to the President, and we continue to monitor all that very carefully and very closely."

The BRAC Commission will vote again in August on their revised list. That will be sent to President Bush in September, with he and Congress scheduled to make final decisions in October.
