Albany--- The man who worked to bring events to the Albany Civic Center is now in charge of marketing and promoting the city as a whole.

Tony Ford is the city's new marketing and promotions director, a new position for Albany.

Ford says having the city's top leaders behind him will hopefully allow him to draw more events than he was able to before, when working at the Civic Center. "There is always that effort going around and protect my own, my turf," Ford said. "If the whole city is the turf, let's go ahead and make everything better. It's not good for us to have one component that's head and shoulders above the others, so let's just bring everything up."

Ford says it was a lateral move.
