School building demolished

July 18, 2005

Albany -- One of Dougherty County's oldest schools is torn down, to make room for one of it's newest buildings.

One of the wings of the old Mamie Brosnan Elementary School was demolished Monday morning. Workers were hauling off the debris from the North Monroe Street site.

This is part of the construction of the new Lincoln Elementary Magnet School on that entire block.

The former McIntosh School building has been gutted, leaving the historic exterior facade. It, along with a new building, will be home to the new Lincoln Elementary School, scheduled to be completed in August 2006.
