Tifton- Twenty-eight year old Jimmy Lee Hampton was captured by U.S. marshals and Tift County deputies behind the Tifton Days Inn Thursday night.

He was stopped by a state trooper around 8:30 Thursday morning for having a broken tail light on his SUV. Hampton took off on foot, and his wife, 34 year old Wanda Hampton, drove off in the vehicle.

Because Jimmy Hampton already had several warrants out in other counties, including family violence child molestation, state troopers say they will only charge him with driving with a suspended license.

Wanda Hampton is being charged with obstruction without force. She also has active warrants from both the Tifton and Fitzgerald police departments. Both are being held in the Tift County jail.
