Beachton-- State troopers are investigating a fatal car accident in Grady County.
It happened around 11:00 Thursday morning on highway 319 just outside Beachton. Troopers say a Toyota Corolla began crossing 319 northbound when it was hit broadside by a Chevrolet Cobalt. The driver of the Corolla, 88 year old Louis Rothman, was killed instantly.
Grady Sheriff Harry Young says Rothman was at fault. "As we got up to the vehicle he had a set of headphones in his hands. It looked like he was probably trying to put his headphones on and never did look," says Young.
The driver of the Cobalt is a military doctor from Tallahassee. Sheriff Young says the car's airbags and seat belt are probably what allowed the man to walk away unhurt.
