Dougherty County- Thursday, crews began replacing old metal pipes on Spring Flats Road with concrete ones. Officials say the crews will likely work through the weekend and may have the repairs done by mid-week.

Work has also been started on a portion of Gaissert Road that was also washed out when old metal pipes busted.

"Right now we're just trying to get it safe and get the old material out, replace it with better material and then put a rock bed in there and lay pipe on top of it," says Chip Kelly of the Dougherty County engineering department.

It could take several days for crews to get all the concrete pipes needed to repair Gaissert Road. Officials hope to have it back open by the end of next week.
