Albany-- Five finalists for the city manager job are in Albany. City commissioners are interviewing the applicants.

The commission held a special meeting Thursday, immediately going into executive session to begin interviewing the five finalists. Each commissioner will have a one-on-one interview with the applicants, scoring them in a number of areas.

"General items such as appearance, able to articulate certain issues, how that person answered questions, general things you would look for in a person that will show leadership," said Mayor Dr. Willie Adams.

There are male and female candidates from across the United States. The interviews will continue Friday.

City commissioners must release the names of the remaining hopefuls after making the final cut, 14 days before hiring a new city manager.
