Albany - Atlanta Motor Speedway is expected to be ready for their fall NASCAR races in late October.
But last week's tornado has wiped out their Legends Summer series.
Veteran driver Skip Nichols of Albany says AMS general manager Ed Clark told him Wednesday morning that the remaining six races in the ten race Legends summer schedule have been canceled.
It is a double loss for Nichols who race car and trailer were stored at the track where they were also damaged by last week's tornado.
Skip Nichols is thankful that no one was injured in last week's tornado and he will repair his trailer and race car and with the plan of racing here in Albany in hopes of qualifying for a legends race at AMS scheduled for the same weekend as the Bass Pro Shops 500.
Skip Nichols said "They are having a champions race from three states coming in, paying $15,000 purse for the legends. And this is one of the first of this area that is paying that amount of purse. So, I want to come back to Albany and try to qualify for that race."
Skip Nichols has won three Legends season titles at Atlanta Motor Speedway and was in third place after four races in this year's standings.
