Sylvester- Many residents say by the time they evacuated their homes, their cars were already filled with water.
Insurance agents say if owners had comprehensive coverage, the cars will be covered under their insurance polices. If not, flood victims will have to foot the entire bill for the repairs.
"If the car is inoperable, won't run, they may have towing coverage. If they do, they can at least get the car pulled out and get it to a garage or wherever it needs to get to in order to have repairs made. If they don't have comprehensive coverage then they don't have any coverage for flood," says Alfa Insurance agent Dale Hodges.
Agents say you can have a comprehensive policy without having collision coverage, so if you are unsure about whether your car is covered you should contact your agent.
