Brooks County - Hurricane Dennis caught peach farmers in middle Georgia right in the middle of harvest season, but luckily growers in our area have already harvested most of their crop.
One Fort Valley farmers says he lost about a third of his 1,500 acre peach crop because of the high winds and heavy rain. Hurricane Dennis ripped fruit from the branches and leveled some trees.
Most farmers in our area finished harvesting early this month, just in time to dodge the storm.
