Albany Police make multiple arrests

July 11, 2005

Albany-- Five men are in custody after a crime-spree over the weekend.

Police arrested Justin Carter, Gerrod Stanley, Umar Stanley, Jarvis Thomas and Kelvin Turner in connection with the crimes.

Investigators say a little after midnight Saturday some residents were sitting outside their home on Cordele Road, when five men pulled up and used guns to rob them of their money, car, and even beer.

Two suspects continued to commit other crimes in the area including driving off without paying for gas at Woodall's on Slappey and stealing a tag from a car in the Wynnsong Theater parking lot.

"All the victims were sitting out in front of the house socializing amongst themselves when the males, three out of the five, advised that they ran up on the individuals with guns and robbed them," says Investigator Scott Mullen of APD.

Kelvin Turner and Jarvis Thomas are also being charged with robbing The Oasis Store in the 2600 block of North Slappey last week.

Turner is charged with driving the car and Thomas is charged with the actual robbery.
