Teacher gets bond in molestation case

July 8, 2005

Sylvester- Twenty-four year old Georgianne Harrell has been in jail since May. Friday, a judge set her bond at $50,000.

In May she was charged with aggravated child molestation. Investigators say she twice performed oral sex on a nine year old boy inside her classroom at Holley Elementary. Harrell is the same teacher who made the news when she cut her wrists with broken glass in front of her students May.

"The state put the cart before the horse in stating that child molesters have a high recidivist rate. They in fact do, but she's not a convicted child molester. She's only a person accused, and that person is entitled to a presumption of innocence," says Howard Stiller, Harrell's attorney.

Conditions of Harrell's bond include being under the supervision of one or both of her parents or a doctor at all times. Also, she may not go on any school campus or anywhere children congregate.

The grand jury is expected to her case on Monday.
