EMA officials monitoring Dennis

July 8, 2005

Thomasville-- Emergency management workers in Thomasville are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Dennis.

Director Chris Jones says the EMA is planning to have shelters on stand by. He adds that people should get prepared now if they don't feel their homes can withstand winds of 70 miles per hour or higher. "Our advice would be to go ahead and get a plan in place of where they plan on going if they don't feel their house is suitable."

Jones adds that at as of late Friday afternoon, Thomas County is in the northeast quadrant of Dennis' predicted path. He says one threat for that section of the storm is tornadoes.
