Albany- Albany and Dougherty County is losing one of its top law enforcers.

Major Bill Berry, the commander of the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit, will officially resign Thursday to the Policy and Review Board that oversees the drug unit.

Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek, who is a member of that board, confirmed Berry's resignation Wednesday night.

Berry has taken a job overseeing the drug unit in Henry County.
