Albany man shot while riding bike

July 6, 2005

Albany -- A man was shot while riding his bicycle Wednesday morning in East Albany. Police are still looking for the gunman who attacked him.

35 year old Michael Earl Anthony underwent surgery, after he was shot once in the chest about 5 A.M. in the 13-hundred block of Mulberry Avenue.

Witnesses say Anthony was riding his bicycle when he stopped to talk to a man, who later attacked Anthony. Albany Police Lt. Tracey Barnes said "The subject struck him on the head, and knocked him off the bicycle. While he was on the ground, he was shot in the chest."

No arrests have been made. The only description of the shooter from witnesses was that he was a black man.
