Building a better economy

Quitman - A South Georgia county has a plan to recruit new businesses and create more jobs.

Tuesday, Brooks County leaders met with representatives from the Georgia Department of Economic Development. They're hoping to make the county an "Entrepreneur Friendly Community."

The designation will provide all kinds of resources and loan assistance for people who want to start a business in Brooks County. "It will bring the community together and also from a state level, it will et people know that we're serious about bringing in new small businesses," said Fred Lamb, Economic Development Director.

Valdosta and Ashburn are the only South Georgia cities designated as "Entrepreneur Friendly Communities."
