South Georgia native who served both US and Georgia dies

Thomasville- A South Georgia native who served as the state's adjutant general has died. Major General Joseph Griffin died Friday. He was 74.

Griffin was appointed adjutant general in 1983 and served until 1990. Griffin oversaw nearly 14 thousand National Guard members in the position. Griffin began his military career in 1952, in the U.S. Army.

He was later reassigned to the U.S. Army Reserve and the Georgia Army National Guard.
