Albany - Abraham Baldwin coach Todd Shepard has made a lot of trips to Albany from Tifton.
And those miles on U.S. Highway 82 have paid off with a third recruit from the Albany area signing to play for the Stallions.
Albany High forward Leon Buchanan today became the 11th player to sign with the Stallions basketball program.
Buchanan was an all-state player for the Region 1-AA champion Indians.
He averaged 17 points and ten rebounds a game but Albany High coach Archie Chatmon says the leadership he provided his squad this year was just as important as the points and rebounds.
Chatmon also says Buchanan is a five tool player who should make an immediate impact for Todd Shepard's Stallions.
Buchanan is the third Albany player to sign with ABAC.
Westover guards De'Jon Everson and Brandon Shingles are former AAU teammates of Buchanan and all three are looking forward to playing together in college.
Leon Buchanan said "We all played on the same AAU team so we got to know each other better and we got to learn how each other play. So, I think we will make a good team."
Todd Shepard said "Leon is a first team all-state player and I could not be happier to get him. De'Jon Everson and Brandon Shingles from Westover, those three guys make us a lot better."
Todd Shepard also announcing that two former Tift County Blue Devils are transferring to the Stallions.
Stanley Brownlee was an all state performer at Jones County (Miss.) Community College and Thomas Hightower was redshirted last year by Seminole (Fla.) Community College.
