Thomasville-- The wound management branch of Archbold Hospital in Thomasville has been named a Center of Excellence by Smith and Nephew, one of the world's largest patient care companies.
Only five other wound care centers have received the award. One contributor for Archbold is its advanced diagnostic tools. Such equipment is usually reserved for larger hospitals. But Doctor Gregg Patterson says it's not the amenities that sets the center apart. "It's not the clinic. It's not the bricks and mortar. It's the people who are involved here, and the quality of care. It's just unusual you get the quality of care and those highly educated people being in a small town like this. They just enjoy the lifestyle," he says.
Archbold's wound care center received another award in 2003. That one was for its advancements in clinical research.
