Cordele-- Military explosive devices were found outside an abandoned Cordele Veterinarian's office Monday afternoon.

A 1,000 foot area was evacuated near the old Bush's Veterinary Office on North 11th Street after investigators found a wooden crate containing approximately 300 igniters for a 60 millimeter mortar.

The crate was next to a propane tank outside the building which is being renovated. The crate had apparently been there a couple of weeks.

The igniters were WWII vintage ordinance and were used to deploy the mortar from the tube. The devices were taken by the GBI to be destroyed.
