Former Blazer goes pro

June 27, 2005

Valdosta-- Former Valdosta State defensive tackle Reggie Rhodes has been signed by the Miami Dolphins, adding depth to a position considered one of the major areas of concern for the team entering the preseason.

Rhodes, who started for the Blazers in 2001 and 2002 after transferring from Georgia Military College, played for Berlin in NFL Europe this past spring, recording 13 tackles, a half sack, one pass defended and one forced fumble.

The 6-4, 300-pound Rhodes will be designated as an NFL Europe League exemption and will not count against the Dolphins' roster limit.
