Suspected arsonist arrested

June 24, 2005

Thomasville-- Tajuan Godwin is charged with arson and criminal damage to property for burning down his mother's mobile home off Red Tip Lane in Thomasville Thursday.

He's being held in the Thomas County jail without bond. Investigators say they suspected the fire was set because of it's origin and flame markings. "The fire was set in the suspect's bedroom. It was started on the floor in that bedroom. And it appears it was started with some paper and clothing," says arson investigator Bob Brettel.

Investigators add that Godwin says he set the fire because he was mad at his mother. She was in Florida at the time. Unfortunately, she does not have insurance on the mobile home.
