Albany MCLB Independence Day Celebration

June 24, 2005

Dougherty County -- A large crowd of South Georgians are expected to celebrate Independence Day at the Albany Marine Base in one week.

The 11th annual base Fourth of July Celebration and fireworks show will be held Friday, July First. The celebration is open to the public, not just military or base families, and it's free.

There will be lots of rides, bands, and fun for the family, as well as food and drinks.

But base security will be checking people as they come in, especially those with big bags. Public Affairs Director Captain Steve Butler said "They will be subject to search. Of course things like diaper bags , and essential items will be allowed. However anything like back packs or large bags. Definitely no weapons, no alcohol is allowed aboard base."

The Albany M.C.L.B. Independence Day Celebration starts at 4 July 1st.

You must enter through the main gate on Fleming Road. The fireworks show will start at 9:30.
