Bonds issued for building dorms

June 23, 2005

Albany- Albany State University students have new dormitories on the way.

The new dorms will have 400 rooms, with 800 beds. Thursday night, the Albany-Dougherty Inner City Authority voted to issue $34 million in bonds for ASU student housing. Only a public authority such as ADICA can issue bonds.

There was a ceremonial groundbreaking for the dorms two weeks ago, but construction hasn't actually started yet.
