Cairo-- One of two suspects in a gruesome mutiliation murder in Grady County is in custody.

Humberto Gomez was arrested Wednesday night in Cairo and charged with murder. Grady County Sheriff Harry Young says investigators also suspect Gomez's brother, Arnulfo.

Young says that Arnulfo Gomez was released from a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Texas this week after giving officers an alias. "They didn't contact us quick enough to say put a hold on him till we can identify him, send you a picture, or get there to identify him. So, evidently we think he crossed on into Mexico," he says.

The brothers are accused of brutally killing Ramiro Perez over the weekend. His mutilated body was found in his mobile home just outside Cairo Monday night.

Investigators say they would have never tracked down Humberto Gomez without the help of the GBI, Cairo Police, and authorities in Florida.
