Minnie Lee Griggs Funderburke

Minnie Lee Griggs Funderburke passed away on June 23, 2005 after a long struggle with heart disease. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Albany, with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Funderburke was born in Henry County, Abbeville, Alabama on December 24, 1916 to the late Emanuel and Ludie Kay Griggs. After graduating from Moody Hospital Nursing School, Dothan Alabama in 1941, she worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years. Her posts included Washington, D.C. and New Orleans during World War II, as well as Albany, Georgia until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Albany, the Young At Heart Club and Fellowship Sunday School class. For over 50 years, she was a proud member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, George Wesley Funderburke of Albany; two daughters: Glinda Funderburke of Marietta, Sandra Ertlschweiger and husband Hap of Valdosta; three sons: David Funderburke and wife, Cindy of Warsaw, NC, Don Funderburke and wife, Becky of Kennesaw, and Danny Funderburke and wife, Jan of Merritt Island, FL; grandchildren: Heather Fick and husband Joe, Woodstock, Holly Greer and husband David, Kennesaw, Hillary Veitch and husband John, Cumming, Justin Baker and wife Molly, Florence, SC, Lindsey Childress and husband Zan, Hahira, Martin Ertlschweiger, Valdosta, Marc Ertlschweiger, Kennesaw, Jennifer Vera and husband Gabe, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Amanda Funderburke, Kennesaw, Sarah Funderburke, Merritt Island, FL, Daniel Funderburke, Merritt Island, FL and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday 6 to 8 PM at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Albany or the American Heart Association.
