Thomasville - He won a Heisman Trophy at Florida State but it is on the basketball court where Thomasville's Charlie Ward has made a living.
It is hard to believe it has been 11 years since Ward was a first round pick of the New York Knicks.
And it is hard to believe that annual Charlie Ward basketball camp in his hometown is about to reach double digits in age.
Ward and his instructors will be teaching the fundamentals of the game along as well as letting the kids enjoy a pickup game or two in the afternoon.
Besides physicals skills, Charlie Ward stresses to every camper the importance of having a positive attitude.
Something the Houston Rocket point guard has shown in his rehabilitation from knee surgery that ended his season back in December.
Charlie Ward said "Then your attitude on the court, how you treat your teammates. How you talk to the coach. All of those aspects and how do you accept winning and losing. All of those are character issues."
Charlie Ward is signed with the Houston Rockets through the 2007 season.
His 8th annual camp ends Thursday in Thomasville.
