Slow comings in murder investigation

Posted June 22, 2005

Cairo- Grady County Sheriff's deputies are making little headway in their investigation of a gruesome murder.

The body of Ramiro Verez was found in his trailer just outside Cairo Tuesday night. Investigators say they've received some tips, but have not been able to track down any solid leads. They fear their prime suspect, Verez's roommate, Arnulfo Gomez, may have fled to Mexico.

Deputies found Verez severely mutilated. His throat and back were cut, his ear was sliced off, a fork had been stuck in his neck, and a knife was lodged in his throat.
