Thomasville- Arson investigators are looking into a fire in Thomasville.

It happened late Tuesday night at an abandoned house on Neel Street. About a dozen firefighters and medical personnel responded because the home is so close to other houses that are occupied. Thomasville Fire Chief Bryan Croft says the origin of the flames is what sparked investigators' interest. "When they got there, there was heavy fire coming out of the rear of the residence. It was an abandoned house, no utilities. So that's what leads us to suspect something suspicious is going on," he says.

The house was destroyed, but it had been empty for about five years. Investigators say it may have been a refuge for drug users.
