Cordele police clear several cases with one arrest

On Tuesday, June 21 at approximately 9:20 a.m. police responded to 802-D N. 2nd St. reference to a suspicious person. Officer Rankin spoke with the complainant, Regina Robinson who told police a black male looked under the tarp of a trailer that was parked in her yard. A description was provided to the police.

Officer Bailey and Officer Montgomery responded and were able to locate the subject identified as Malcome Ray, age 17 of 609 E. 3rd Ave. riding a bicycle a couple of blocks away.

He was identified by Patricia Aspinwall as the subject that snatched her purse at while she was at 602 E 3 rd Ave on February 17 th at 9:04 a.m. Police transported Ray to the police department. Officers then worked with Detective McDowell. As a result of the investigation was able to clear several cases. Ray was arrested for Criminal Trespass  and Robbery for taking Aspinwall’s purse.

On 6/20/05 at 6:30 p.m. police responded to 616 N. 1st St. in reference to a theft. The victim, Aaron Jones reported two bicycles were taken from his shed. Det. McDowell arrested Malcome Ray on June 21st for Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.

On 5/13/05 at 1:36 p.m. police responded to 510 E. 3rd Ave in reference to a burglary. The victim, George Avery reported a black male entered through the front door. Avery went to see who walked in and the suspect ran through the house and out the back door. Det. McDowell arrested Malcome Ray on June 21st for Burglary.

On 4/27/05 at 12:08 police responded to Dr. Duvall’s office at 416 E. 4th Ave. in reference to a robbery. The victim, Evelyn Ray had gotten into her vehicle when a young black male opened the passenger side door and struck her in the face twice and stole her purse. He took a jacket and money from the purse and threw it back at her. Det. McDowell arrested Malcome Ray on June 21st for Robbery and Battery of Elderly Person.

On 4/26/05 at 6:30 a.m. police responded to 506 E. 3rd Ave in reference to a burglary. The victim, Grace Crosby reported a subject broke a window pane and unlocked the back door and money was taken. Det. Farrow arrested Malcome Ray on June 21st for Burglary.

On 3/23/05 at 12:45 p.m. police responded to a burglary at 606 E. 4th Ave. The victim, Elsie Rhodes reported the front door was kicked off of the hinges and money was taken. Det. Farrow arrested Malcome Ray on June 21 st for Burglary. Malcome Ray was transported to Crisp County Detention Center.
