Referendum Roundup

June 21, 2005

Camilla -- Restaurants in one south Georgia town won't add mixed drinks to their menus anytime soon.

A liqour by the drink referendum in Camilla failed -- barely.

Turnout wasn't bad. About 30-percent of voters went to the polls.

The referendum failed by just seven votes. 287 people voted "yes," but 294 said "no."

Voters in Bainbridge overwhelmingly approved tax breaks for industries today.

A Freeport referendum was divided into three parts.

All three passed with about 91-percent of the vote.

New and existing industries will get relief on their property and inventory taxes.

It's a common tax break throughout Georgia.

It will cost Bainbridge about 15-thousand dollars a year.
