Gambling investigation underway

Posted June 13, 2005

Cairo- The owners of three convenience stores in Grady County are facing charges for commercial gambling.

State, local, and county authorities have seized 14 poker and slot machines from the stores. Investigators say undercover agents were given cash pay outs for winning the games. Winners are only supposed to be given up to five dollars in merchandise. If convicted, the stores owners could spend up to five years in prison.

The Cairo Police Department, the Grady County Sheriff's Office, and the GBI are handling the case.
