Valdosta-- Three players from both VSU tennis squads have been named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's all-America team. Eva Petschnig , Anne Corten and Annika Biro are the Lady Blazer selections; Christoph Schneider , Eduardo Rincon and Philipp Laucht are the Blazer honorees.
Petschnig and Rincon were chosen in both singles and doubles. Petschnig ended the year ranked fifth in singles and doubles (Biro). Rincon was ranked fifth in singles and second in doubles (Laucht). Corten was the nation's 13th-ranked player in singles, and Schneider ended the year with a No. 3 national ranking.
The Lady Blazers enjoyed the most successful season in school history, finishing 19-3 and winning the Gulf South Conference championship and one of the South Regionals to advance to the national tournament where they lost to national champion Armstrong Atlantic State in the semifinals. They finished the year ranked third nationally.
The Blazers were upset by Ouachita Baptist in the finals of one of the South Regionals, ending the year with a 15-4 record and a No. 8 national ranking.
