Valdosta - The Georgia Supreme Court has affirmed the conviction of a Lowndes County man found guilty of murder.

In March of 2004, a jury found 31-year-old Theodore Smith of Valdosta guilty of the murder of Lula Tekle. Tekle was shot during a fight outside the Deli Bar on Northside Drive. Prosecutors say she was an innocent bystander, that Smith was firing at another man.

Smith was also found guilty of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He is serving a life sentence.
