Albany-- Albany State University is mourning the loss of a longtime fixture in the broadcast booth. Fred "Doc" Suttles died Saturday night after suffering a massive heart attack.
Suttles has been the 'Voice of the Golden Rams' for the last 39 years, calling Albany State football games along with his son Freddie first on WJIZ FM and most recently on WQVE FM. The Centerville, Alabama native was inducted into the Albany State Sports Hall of Fame this past fall and was widely known within the ASU community for his love and dedication to the University.
Funeral services are scheduled for this Friday at First Monumental Faith Ministries in Albany. Suttles is survived by his four children and seven grandchildren. He was 75 years old.
