Amarillo--Despite a late fourth quarter rally, the South Georgia Wildcats lost for the third consecutive week Saturday night in a 69-63 defeat to the Amarillo Dusters.
South Georgia got off to a slow start, scoring only 16 points in the first half, but found their stride in the second half putting up 47 points. But the Wildcats were no match for the Dusters' (6-3) offense, which came into the night ranked number one in AF2.
Amarillo set the tone early, scoring on the game's first play. Fullback DeWayne Miles scampered 13 yards for the score, giving the Dusters a 7-0 lead. The Wildcats had a chance to cut the Dusters' lead to three points just before the half, but Bobby Pesavento's pass was intercepted by Kendrick Walker who returned it for a touchdown.
The Wildcats (2-7) will return home next week to face the Florida Firecats at the Albany Civic Center.
