Albany- The are more than 8.4 million cancer survivors living in the U-S. Those living in Albany celebrated Saturday.
Cancer survivors gathered at the Covenant Presbyterian Church to celebrate Cancer Survivors Day. This is the thirteenth annual Celebration of life, but many of the survivors considered themselves lucky.
Organizer Patricia Swain's mother died of breast cancer.
"I'm also a breast cancer survivor and so it is near and dear to my heart. It's important that those who have been through get the opportunity to celebrate," said Patricia Swain, Phoebe Cancer Center.
She says more people are beating cancer because of the tremendous advances made in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Saturday's celebration included, fun, games, a clown and plenty of smiles.
