Fitzgerald-- The wife and son of a Fitzgerald man are charged with his murder. Fifty-three-year-old Carolyn Merritt and 29-year-old Calvin Merritt were charged this week with the murder of Jimmy Merritt.

Merritt was found April 27th at his home on Highway 90. He had been shot in the back of the head. He was taken to a Macon hospital where he died May 12th.

Calvin Merritt's wife, Wendy, is charged with three counts of providing false statements and one count of tampering with evidence.

Mrs. Merritt and her son are being held without bond in the Ben Hill County jail. Wendy Merritt is free on $17,500 bond. The case remains under investigation.
