Leesburg - After their semifinal win over Evans Monday night, members of the Lee County baseball team said they were ready to play the AAAA finals right then.
It will be next week at the earliest though before the Trojans will get to play for the state championship.
That is because the other semifinal series between Henry County and Heritage High has been rained out for a third straight day.
The two teams will try again Thursday five o'clock but the forecast in Atlanta calls for more rain for a fifth straight day.
Lee County coach Rob Williams says the Georgia High School Association will schedule the AAAA finals once the Henry County/Heritage series is completed.
That decision will not be made until after the completion of the Henry County/Heritage series but the GHSA says the winner of that series will get a couple of days of rest before they have to play again.
That means it will be next week at the earliest before the series begins.
If Heritage wins that series, they would host Lee County while Lee County would host the finals if they play Henry County.
