 Statesboro - Georgia Southern outfielder Jason Hurst has signed a free agent contract with the Boston Red Sox.

Hurst just finished his senior season with the Eagles where the Thomasville native had .390 batting average and led Georgia Southern with 24 doubles and 60 runs batted in.

The former Brookwood School standout also led Georgia Southern to a runner-up finish in the Southern Conference but the Eagles did not get an at-large bid to NCAA tournament despite a 38-22 record.
