May 27, 2005 Albany- Memorial Day weekend isn't just about eating barbecue or taking trips.

To some, it's a chance to get outdoors and do yard work. But that makes this the time of year when doctors see the most eye injuries.

Dr. Kent Smith at Wall Eye Care says the best thing you can do is wear eye protection.

"If they already wear prescription glasses or sunglasses, it's okay to wear those, but you can go to a hardware store like Home Depot or Lowe's and by an inexpensive pair of safety glasses and that will give them the best protection," Smith said.

It's especially important to wear eye protection when you're mowing the law or using the weed eater.
